ABOUT COPAA

The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc. is a national non-profit, all volunteer organization of attorneys, advocates and parents, whose primary mission is to secure educational services in public education for children with disabilities
(See Mission Statement).   The organization is made up of individuals (attorneys, parents, and advocates) and affiliate organizations (See Membership).

COPAA was formed In January 1998 to address the important issues existing in the provision of educational services for children with disabilites.  Its primary objective is to increase meaningful access to effective educational programs for these children. (See Goals and Objectives)

At the present time COPPA pursues its objectives through its publications, internet and website, and its large annual conferences.  It is in the process of developing special training courses for advocates which can be presented through local and regional training conferences.  (See Activities)
Mark serves on on the board of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc. (COPAA) and is a frequent presenter in the annual COPAA conferences.  COPAA is playing an important role on the national level, providing unique, specialized training in special education law and procedures for parents, advocates and attorneys.  COPAA's annual Conferences are the best training available.
COPAA Seventh Annual National Conference:  This year the conference will be held in Atlanta from March 10 through 13.  Last years pre-conference Advocate Training and Attorney training was a major sucess.  This year the Advocacy Training will add an advanced module.  The Attorney Training will present Due Process and Federal Court modules.  For more information.
