Advocacy Services and Legal Services

The law firm of Special Education Law and Advocacy has initiated a new service model, which provides for non-legal educational advocacy and local collaborating attorney services in certain parts of the state.

The concept is to provide advocacy services, where a non-legal advocacy approach is appropriate.  This approach allows for a high level of professional advocacy, with legal guidance and oversight.  At the same time, we are forming collaborating relationships with attorneys, who agree to work with us in providing local legal services. The idea is to expand the number of children this office can serve, while providing the appropriate level of services to each client.  Our great desire is to bring professional level advocacy services within reach of more children.  We want to do the same thing with attorney services.

ADVOCACY:

Claudia Roberts:  We began by adding Claudia several years ago.  She is based in Hillsborough County.  With her Doctorate of Jurisprudence she has a wonderful knowledge of special education law, as well as appropriate educational planning for children with disabilities.  Claudia's non-legal advocacy covers a large area from Citrus County to Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough, Polk, Pinellas, and Sarasota.

Jonathan McIntire, PhD.:  Jonathan, a former special education administrator, he serves an area, including Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and possibly Osceola, and Lake.  He brings a great fund of educational knowledge to our firm and is thus a great educational resource to each of us.

Mary Auvil, PhD.:  Mary has settled in the Ocala area.  She was a school principal in Hawaii and is serving as an advocate in Marion County (Ocala) and the surrounding counties, including Alachua, Sumter, Lake, Hernando, Citrus, and Levy.
